RAID 1 mirror for Time Machine backups on 2 external hard drives?

I'm using two external HDDs formatted as MacOS Extended Journaled for backing up Time Machine. Can I set one of them as a RAID 1 mirror? I'd like to be able to backup Time Machine to one hard drive and have a mirror image copied onto the 2nd external hard drive.

I'm recovering from a freak accident where I deleted my files and now I'm extra cautious about having more than one backup.

I've actually decided to go the non-RAID route for stability purposes. After doing some research I've decided that the RAID route could be more trouble and not much more of a convenience. RAID drives are more prone to corruption, better to just click 'backup to time machine' for each drive, it's only an extra step but it takes twice as long but well worth the security over RAID 1 mirror clones.

I've found a solution to replicate RAID 1 onto two hard drives without using RAID. In carbon copy cloner click Advanced Settings > Performance & Analysis and check the box for 'quick update.' This give you the same features as RAID 1 with the reliability of a standard GUID partition and none of the unreliability / corruption issues of RAID. The only drawback is with RAID 1 the two hard drives are updated simultaneously. With this feature it takes a bit longer but worth the peace of mind.

Just thought I'd post this, I use these forums as repository for Apple knowledge and to help someone who might have the same issue in the future.
