iOS 15.1 broke connectivity to my car stereo

I tried car play and that does not work either. From what I have read we all have to suffer until Apple does another update.

I would like to figure out how to uninstall the update, without screwing my phone.

I think it’s definitely affecting GM vehicles. I rode with my friend in her 2020 Mustang and Car Play worked just fine, despite my phone being updated to 15.1. It won’t play through the USB port in my 2011 RS Camaro, though. This needs to be fixed, especially when Bluetooth quality isn’t the greatest.

So my Car Radio is a 2012, it uses the USB connection and behaves as if it is plugged into an iPod when working… however since updating, the car stereo does not make the connection to the “iPod” function. These stereos pre-date CarPlay function and display. It is just “iPod”. iPhone, connects through Bluetooth. There is no music to Bluetooth functionality on my car stereo.

doing resets just make life miserable at random intervals for months, trying to get wifi connectivity and resetting passwords.

That is always my Carriers answer to service issues…. My response is, will I get a $500 credit if the reset doesn’t fix the problem…

To me it’s like replacing my car motor cause the turn signal doesn’t work!

I have the SAME ISSUE. It charges and only take calls, but when I play music it doesn’t want to change the SOURCE from my steering wheel. And it’s good it still charges but GEEZ, I need to use Spotify on long car trips and everyday.

I reset and deleted the Device on my Bluetooth Device List. I do have a 2011 Chevy Cruze Lt and it worked with no problem before the update. But come on Apple, HELP US OUT PLEASE.

Yes, I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze. Basically it will let you play music through a radio frequency. It plugs into the charging port/what would have been a cigarette lighter and connects to your phone via Bluetooth.

I'm wondering if this issue is still persisting for you? It is for me. I have an iPhone 8Plus and iOS 15.1 currently. When using previous versions of iOS, my phone was recognized by my 2014 Chevy Equinox through the USB-lightning connection for both charging and interfacing with the music. I could use my Napster app and have it play through the car stereo. Now, it will showing as charging but is not recognized by my car as available to play music. I see that 15.3 is available for download, but it doesn't appear to address this issue. Have you found a workaround or solution with your car? Thanks for your time!

I have this exact problem 2013 Chevy Cruze . Worked fine until I downloaded 15.1

I am going through the same problem I thought it was my car at first but it’s the new update

So, it was semi-acknowledged that there is a problem with the 15.1 upgrade. I wonder how long will we have to wait for the update?

Not gonna update my work phone so I can still use that until something is resolved

Same thing happened to me in my 2011 equinox. Going to try and downgrade back today. Apple dropped the ball.
