iOS 15.1 broke connectivity to my car stereo

Thanks for posting this, amp68. Been frustrated with this same problem since updating to 15.1. I have an iPhone6s and same 2014 Chevy Cruze. Can no longer play iPhone through car stereo. Spoke on the phone with a woman at Apple Support a week ago, but she wasn't able to help me and didn't seem to know there was a problem. Glad to know it's not just me. I'll try calling them back and let them know I'm not alone with this problem.

SAME HERE. 2011 Chevy Equinox and iPhone 12 Pro Max. As soon as I updated it stopped registering it as an “iPod.” It’ll charge but can no longer play music.

I also depend on being able to charge while connected for the GPS. I really hope they fix this soon.

I have the same phone iphone xr and same car 2014 Chevy Cruze and since updating to ios 15.1 I am not able to play any music through my lightning usb cord. I only use Apple’s cord and cannot get bluetooth connected or carplay due to it being an LS model. Is there a fix besides the aux cord with the adapter?

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I have a 2011Checy Cruze Lt and my car stopped recognizing my iphone as soon as I updated. I hope this gets fixed soon because rides to work are getting boring. I will also try notifying apple so they know this is a bigger issue than just one person.

I have a 2011 eco chevy Cruze. My music worked beautifully last night then I updated today to 15.1 and now the aux doesn’t recognize my phone at all. I restarted my phone I unplugged and replugged everything from each side. All I know is there better be a fix and my car better not be “too old” now

11 pro Max was working perfectly fine until updated today 15.1.

my fault, I use to never update any version till few months later for these reasons.

I did today and my GPS and music don’t work with the car.

charges the phone but nothing else.

Same issue here. 2016 Chevy Cruze. When I connect my old iPhone which is on the most previous to iOS 15 it works. this is such bullsh**.. and like you said, can use the aux lightning cable but then can’t charge…..

This exact problem happened for my 2012 Chevy Cruze. Thank you for sharing this. For now I will try to find an “Aux cord” for my phone with an adapter (because you have to have that too now). Hoping Apple can fix this issue!

I am also having the same problem I just updated and and now it only charges my phone and doesn’t transfer my music any more extremely annoying since both my phones were updated and now I cannot use my music while driving very annoying

apple removed my previous whatever just fix it. Camaro 2011 rs and Camaro 2015 zl1 don’t work work either that blue tooth solution don’t work and disconnects I have a iPhone 13 pro max . Like I said FIX IT APPLE

I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze and have the same problem. I always just leave the usb cord plugged into the usb slot in the center console and get in the car and plug my phone it and the iPod iPhone words always pop up on the screen then my music shows up and plays perfect I use Spotify. The other day I updated to iOS 15.1 on my iPhone 11 and when I plugged my phone in it started charging but nothing popped up and couldn’t get my music to work thought something was wrong with the car at first but after seeing so many people with the same vehicle complain about the same thing I know it’s the iOS 15.1 update. I can’t downgrade back to iOS 15.0.2 because apple signed it off so I’m praying there is an update asap that fixes this issue or I’m going to just get a new Galaxy phone since I’m eligible for to upgrade. Please fix this immediately apple

That’s just it, most are not.

What’s curious is most other vehicles and devices see the iPhone as an iPod as expected.

Why the Cruze doesn’t is the mystery.

Someone with a USB protocol analyzer could find out pretty easily, but I lack one.

Same issue here. I thought it was the cable at first, but after trying multiple cables it is clearly the iPhone update. Other iPhones not using iOS 5.1 work fine, with same cable and same car. So Apple, please fix this in the next update, or at least allow us to downgrade to an earlier update.

I am having the same issue. I have a 2012 chevy cruze with the same radio and use the usb connector to play music through my iphone 11. it was working fine until I updated to ios 15.1.. I even bought a new iphone charger, a genuine one to ensure it would work. It charges but won’t connect. Music does play on iphones that don’t have the new update.. Any fixes?

I have a 2014 Chevy cruze too my wife has the old iOS as well and her phone works and yes the 3.5mm jack will work but that is even more dangerous if the safety is in fact the reason behind the problem we are having. Anyhow I am with you apple needs to fix this and fast if I have to use the 3.5 jack I have to change the song with my phone if it’s connected via USB port I can use the steering wheel. Safety First apple fix this issue before we all go to Samsung. I am digging the Z fold act quick lol
