iOS 15.1 broke connectivity to my car stereo

I’m having the same issue and have been researching what I can do. I shared a screen shot of what I have found. I have tried this yet but I’m about to give a shot and hopefully it works. Sharing for others curious.

Just chiming in to add that I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze and the same thing has happened to me. Charges but doesn’t recognize my phone is plugged in. My commute has been very boring and sad without music and I can recite every radio commerical at this point. Hoping apple gets their **** together and fixes it soon

I just discovered the same issue with my wife's '20 Subaru Outback XT. Worked fine the other day and stopped working after the update. The bluetooth won't even let me connect. I didn't try the cable an CarPlay yet.

Tried doing this too and god is it not fun trying to submit a complaint or bug report of any kind for the first time lol… I too am driving a Chevy Cruze where me and my partner’s iphones (12 and 13) both stopped working with the aux cord as of 15.1-15.1.1… Extremely cool and fun, Apple, thanks!

Just updated my phone to 15.1 last night and upon driving to work this morning realized that there was an issue trying to listen to music on my 2011 Chevy Cruze. Instantly knew it was the update because I could see it would charge my phone (iPhone 11 Pro) and my work phone (iPhone 8) would play music no problem just not when I tried to play from my personal phone . Really upset to see this is a know problem for several months and no solution has been offered yet, also surprised it’s primarily Cruze owners… Please fix Apple!!

This is not us or our car or our docker it’s apple , I just don’t understand so many people has contacted them already including myself and they have answers as in need new dicker or car getting old. This is insane

This is for a 2015 or older car and that you use the USB Port to stream music and Maps or Waze and now you can hear through your car speakers?

The car recognizes the USB port in the car and not car play that the older cars do not have?

I am just trying to understand the Hard reset - HOLD until it shuts off - I was also trying to figure why the volume up an down - The closest store to me is in a MALL -- UGH - I would not want to go there now I have the 2016 Chevy like all the others are having issue with

This has been issue since an update prior to ios 15. You would have thought they would have fixed it by now. The issue happens with other bluetooth devices as well such as headphones. For me the workaround is to turn bluetooth off and back on in the Settings app (toggling Bluetooth in the quick settings does not work).

Any chance anyone has found a solution to this? I’ve spoken to Apple support who were no help at all. My last resort is to factory reset my phone and I’m trying to avoid it. I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze with the same USB connectivity issues.

it appears you can’t downgrade back to previous version, that is not good. One would think there are so many people upset, they should off the update to downgrade by the click of a button again . Give us as the owners the right to do it. I might be calling the Apple store since you can’t just walk in anymore and get a “smart” geek that is familiar and not a newbie to fix it and downgrade, but they might not be allowed.

I have been using a simple iPhone charger and a new one that’s braided wiring. I’ve used either for the last 2 years, so it’s weird that it’s happening after this update. I have reset my phone and it still doesn’t work?? Hitch is super weird. Wish Apple would look into this. I did get in touch with 3 techs and none have found a solution for it. So now I got an appointment with Apple themselves to look into it.

Does Apple have an ETA of the next upgrade that is going to fix the connectivity?

Not finding any fixes - cant afford a new Car or Stereo that the Apple people that are stating in the stores. - Just looking to find an ETA of fixing this issue that Apple has created with the 15.1.1 upgrade

I’m glad we got this fixed. I sat there for hours talking to these techs and tbh (were super nice) now I gotta cancel my appt to see Apple. This update saved our hides to enjoy our music. Ugh! I’ve had One Of These Nights by Eagles stuck in my head for two weeks 😂😂 we did it guys!! Happy New Years to everyone!
