iOS 15.1 broke connectivity to my car stereo

There for a while I was ready to buy an Android. The 15.2 update did the trick. Thank You!

same issue with my 2014 Camaro SS. I got in a argument with apple support girl was clueless . Pretty much told me that I need to buy a new car with car play or get a new stereo with CarPlay . I ended up downgrading the software to 15.0.2 fixed the problem

Same here, after upgrading to ios 15.1 on iphone 7 256gb, USB audio stopped working in my 2010 Subaru Outback Limited with Harman Kardon sound system, 2005 Audi A4 with aftermarket iphone connectivity from Enfig Car Stereo and Marantz home cinema receiver. Only workaround I found to make it work in the Audi A4 is power off the iphone while car lightning USB cable is plugged. Power on the phone and it works until you turn off the car or unplug the iphone. Phone charges if plugged back but no audio connectivity.

Come on Apple, do something... It seems a pretty major bug here!

Update: if you turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone, it will come from to the car via the USB again. So you have to chose between hearing your music and navigation through your speakers and having phone calls ring to the car.

Hey, amp68! I also have a 2014 Chevy Cruze and I recently updated my phone and am having the same frustrating issue! I tried resetting my phone - don't do it, it didn't work! So today I was trying to problem solve and I came up with a solution. Next to my USB input in my center console of my car, there is an AUX input. I have a 3.5mm male to male cable I plugged into the AUX input in the console, then I plugged my lightening to 3.5mm female into the other end of the male to male cable. I plugged the adapter + cable into my phone and the screen on my Chevy Cruze now says "AUX Jack In". I can play music through my car stereo now with these cables and adapter, and I can also use Google Maps through it too. I know this is a lot of steps for a workaround for this issue, but it worked for me. I really believe this may be a 15.1 issue, so hopefully it resolves by 15.2

If you want to charge your phone while using the AUX input, get a Magsafe charger + a USB C female to USB A male and charge it that. Again, I know this is A LOT of steps and for me I had all of these cables and adapters lying around to do so - but hopefully 15.2 will solve all of this.

Have any of you with this issue tried a full reset of your radio?

This requires you remove the fuse to the radio for 30 minutes or more, and will require you to reenter your radio code to unlock it if you have a radio that requires one.

Again, could someone try factory resetting their radio (again, make sure you have your radio code if your radio came with one.)

This involves removing your radio fuse and leaving it out for several minutes then reconnecting it.

I don’t suggest that randomly; a person I know investigating the issue has had functionality restored by doing that on multiple occasions.

That doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to fix things for you, but rather is a way of collecting additional data.

If it does work for you, you’ll be thrilled.

If it doesn’t, you’re no worse off.

I realize it’s an inconvenience to try, but it also sounds to be an inconvenience to not have the USB connection work.

Regardless, once again make sure you have your radio’s unlock code if your radio originally required entering one, or you will be left with a completely non-functional radio until you can source it.

I never debated that the issue exists for whatever reason, but rather in the testing he’s been able to do a full factory radio reset works every time.

Not a root cause, just a data point I’m trying to sort out.

I had this happen with my iPhone 12pro and my 2014 Chevy Equinox after the iOS 15 update. My son didn’t update and his still works so I know it’s not the USB port or my wire.

i spent over an hour on the phone with Apple and the outcome was I could either pay a dealer to upgrade my car’s firmware ($75 Was the quote the dealership gave me and no guarantees it will work) and maybe that would work or I can wait for the engineers to figure out a fix.

I am not happy about this.

One happy lady! After the problems caused with my phone and car not “talking” to each other since 15.1 update, I have been patiently waiting for Apple to resolve the kibosh they made of things. I’m pleased to say after downloading and installing 15.2 my car and phone are now friends again!!

15.2 update was in the phone - updated and the connectivity works ! thanks to all that was on this link and we all made it happen, I have a 2015 Chevy Cruz - and no car play

Confirmed 15.2 fixes my Chevy Cruze issue not playing with a usb connection.
