Stop iPad screen auto dimming

I have recently upgraded IPad to IOS 15. Very annoyingly the screen keeps dimming. I have tried all options to remove this feature with no success . In particular Settings , Display and Brightness and the auto lock switch is grey ( not active) and I cannot change it to “ never”.

result i cannot use my iPad effectively .

Auto-Lock has nothing to do with auto dimming the screen. Go to Settings>Accessibility>Display & Text Size>Auto-Brightness and turn that off.

Turning that Auto-Lock to never, even though you say you cannot, would not affect brightness, it would just keep the screen from turning off period, which would kill your battery.

Can you explain why you 'cannot use your iPad effectively' because of this dimming? How much is it dimming that is preventing you from use? What are you trying to do at the time I guess would also be a good question, since it let me understand what you are doing and how the dimming is effecting that.

I am reading in my news paper app or reading this forum thread and every freaking 40-seconds the screen dims. Very Very very annoying. I can barely read the print and have to keep tapping the screen to light it up again. Just feee like a trained chimp at this point. I agree with the previous comment. It makes the iPAD that I love very user Unfriendly. Bet Tim Cook doesn’t have this problem on his iPAD. Why the answer on to how to stop this dimming behavior? I would suggest an energy setting that can control how this works. Maybe some people love this feature. I sure don’t. <=== END Rant===>
