Mail app not refreshing

Hello everybody,


I have a problem with mail app. There is no setting to allow refreshing in background, so I don't get notifications about new emails until I unlock phone and enter to mail app. I think that it shouldn't work in that way and I want to get info about new emails in real time. Anyone had/have such problem and found solution? (iOS 15.1, but on 15.0.2 was same problem)

When in Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data and you tap on your email account is Push chosen there as well? When push is not available, the Mail app will then get mail on the Fetch schedule. As noted in Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data, when Automatically is chosen, your iPhone will fetch new data in the background only when connected to power and Wi-Fi.


What happens if you set that Fetch to a different setting such as 'Every 15 Minutes'? That will have your iPhone reaching out to look for email every 15 minutes, though you may see an impact on the battery life, just so you know.

Greetings DJKPI, 


We understand that you’re not receiving notifications for the Mail app as you’d prefer. 


Can you start by telling us, from Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data what is set for each account we are working with? We ask this because each option works a bit differently and we want to be sure whether what you’re encountering is expected based on what is chosen and supported by the account.
