Calendar very slow with macOS Monterey

Hi All,

Since the Monterey update the calendar is very slow, the wheel is there a lot. I tried to delete the com.Apple.ical.plist but it does not help here.

Anything I could do to troubleshoot here please?

Thanks

I use Apple Calendar exclusively (except when I have to create a meeting invite with others at work). But, I accept invites and such on my Apple Calendar. I have a number of iCloud calendars I sync with on three Macs and two iOS devices. All of these also sync with a work Exchange calendar.

I have been seeing this delayed event rendering on the iOS devices for a while as I'm on the iOS beta program. It was annoying but I made reports. The symptom was that I'd go to a day in the calendar but events would not be there but would fill in in a few seconds.

When I upgraded my Mac to Monterey, I started seeing the same annoying behavior on the Mac's Calendar app.

I unsubscribed to the Exchange calendar on the Mac. Lo and behold, the Calendar app was working like it was its old self. I tried unsubscribing on the iOS devices and, they too, started functioning nicely again. Just turning off the Exchange calendar in the Calendar app didn't do anything. I had to "unsubscribe" from the Exchange calendar.

Earlier in another thread, I through it was a client-side issue. I still believe that. But now, I am betting it is an Exchange client-side, either Apple's implementation or Microsoft's implementation.

For now, I've gone to using Outlook calendar. Very surprised that Apple didn't do a better job of testing this before releasing Monterey. I wasn't using the beta -- was it already a problem with that?

I love the optimism of those saying Apple will certainly fix this with the next update. But then I remember the problem with Contacts a few years ago when suddenly it started cutting off notes after 3 or 4 lines. At first, Apple support said they knew nothing of such a problem. Then they said that notes in Contacts are not supposed to be used for more than 3 or 4 lines. It was over 6 months before Apple finally released a version fixing the problem.

I first noticed this issue with macOS Monterey PB 6. I reported it to Apple literally with EVERY SINGLE beta since and received ZERO response from Apple. I sent multiple screen recordings with my reports. Not surprisingly the bug made it into the official release of macOS Monterey. The bug did not exist in iOS and iPadOS 15.0 but started to occur in them as well since the 15.1 version. I simply don't know what to do. Calendar apps on my devices are almost unusable. I just tweeted Apple, AppleSupport and Tim Cook. I don't know how else to get their attention. This is ridiculous.

I have a very similar issue since updating to Monterey (and also upgrading to a new MacBook Pro 16"). I use Mac Calendar and sync it with several Google accounts as well as iCloud. I get a spinning ball frequently when scrolling from week to week or month to month, and the calendar view often jumps back to the view when I started scrolling, which is very annoying.

I've managed to isolate the issue to a single Google account, but can't figure out if there's a way to "rebuild" that account to fix any issue with corrupt events that might be triggering the issue. I've rebooted in Safe Mode to no avail, and I don't have any virus protection or similar software installed on my Mac.

Any help would be appreciated!

+1 on that! My business partner and I use an Exchange account, and it's TERRIBLE! Takes 10-15 seconds(!) to switch from one week to another. And sometimes it displays bad data for a while too (appointments all at wrong times, different week, etc.)

This same server configuration worked just fine in Big Sur! I changed nothing server-side, just the client on MacOS from Big Sur to Monterey. (And I bought a $3500 MacBook Pro M1Max CPU to have to experience terrible Calendar times, a tool I use many times a day, live with Clients to schedule time. Grrrrrrrr.)

PLEASE FIX!
