Samsung Portable SSD T7 not working in Big Sur

My Samsung T7 was working fine yesterday, but now is unrecognizable to this extent: The icon for the T7 shows up on the desktop and, clicking the icon, a window opens showing the Samsung apps. However, in trying to refresh the screen from the Samsung PortableSSD_1.0 software, nothing happens?! No prompt for the password, and this was working yesterday. Any thoughts?

Recently, I cannot get the software for the Portable SSD to open and run. When it launches, it closes immediately. Oddly, I'm able to use the external HD for time machine backups. Samsung Portable SSD T7 not recgonized on Macbook The SSD is recognised by the macbook running Catalina 10.15.6 but the portable SSD software keeps saying no portable ssd connected, this is annoying because I am not able to then use the finger print protection etc. I have tired to run their cleanup script in ~/Library/Application/Support/PortableSSD/ and installed the older version and does not seem to work. I see in another thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250388646 this was the same issue with the T5 as well. can any of you please tell me which version of software I could use ? or how else could i resolve this problem?

Samsung T7 crashes Big Sur How can I stop the Samsung T7 from crashing Big Sur? This happens nearly every time I copy data from the Mac to the SSD. Some recommend installing the Samsung firmware released for Big Sur. But I don't need password protection. I want the flexibility to use the SSD across different machines without having to worry about what software must be installed for using it, just like any HDD. I did use the firmware on on older MacBook though to unlock the drive so as to be able to format it and ensure no firmware is on it in case such was preinstalled.

I always suggest when getting a new external drive to not install of use the provided apps. Use disk Utility to manage the drive.
