I have upadated the MacBook Pro to the new software (Monterey) and it went OK
When I did the same to iMac the problem begun.
Now I am so stuck that the computer doesn't even restart !
I keep Command + R but get no results !
What to do ?

I suspect it has suffered a hardware failure. Doing major updates on computers are stressful to computers that use hard drives of some type as there are a LOT of read/write cycles that occur during the update that stress the drive. If the drive's health is marginal to begin with, the update process can push it over the edge. This can occur on aging systems , however you can attempt the following:

are you using the wireless keyboard while attempting to enter recovery? if yes, you can try connecting the keyboard to the iMac with the USB charging cable and attempt to enter recovery again.
With mouse and Keyboard issues, try resetting both the NVRAM and the SMC on that iMac.

If that doesn’t resolve this and if you have the Apple wireless keyboard and mouse on that iMac, try connecting those to the iMac with the Apple USB-A to Lightning (charging) cables. That bypasses the Bluetooth path.

yes, when entering recovery it can sometimes help to try with the keyboard's USB cable connected. please let us know if it works for you.

In the first attempt I started pressing Command+R, followed the procedures and it stuck after apple ID with the white bar stopped at some point
On the second attempt I unplugged it for a couple of minutes and it restarts asking for the password.
I insert the password, the white bar progresses until it turns all black with the Apple and the white bar stuck
I do know the photo is terrible but I hope you can see the frozen bar at the beginning
All this because I want to update Lightroom !

But not on on the iMac !

Does the computer start at all or is it totally silent when you attempt to restart it? In order for us to help we need more details from you .

This time I tried with Command+R
It asked me to choose the language and for my Apple ID

Now I am stuck with NO MOUSE !
since recovery was unsuccessful, i recommend you follow the advice in rkaufmann87's latest reply. sorry, but other than that, i'm not sure what you can try.
