How to move an app's window exceeding the upper limit on macOS?

Hi there,

I am currently using the newest Macbook Pro 14-inch model which has a notch... So I am trying to maximize my usage on the whole display even the space on the left and right handsides of the notch.

FYI, here is a video I take for the issue https://youtu.be/j5RSPFfXZr4

After hiding the menu bar, I still cannot move my app's window to the highest position, when I move the window upper than the notch, and release my mouse, the window will just jump back to the position which is lower than the notch which drives me crazy that I have to waste the space for the giant menu bar...

Any help is appreciated!!!

Kind regards

Erik

This problem has not been solved.

People do not want to hide the notch, but rather, we want to maximize screen real estate by hiding the menu bar and moving application windows up to the very top of the screen. Right now, the system automatically snaps windows below the notch, leaving a gap between the app and the top of the screen on either side of the notch. This needs to be disabled, letting me move my window where I want. I really don't care if the name of the application is obscured by the notch. I know what I'm using... I'm a "Pro" right?

On my 14” MBP I can’t move the workspace window to the top of the screen like I can with the 13” MBP. When I do, the system automatically moves the window below the notch waisting a 1/4” or 7mm of space. I’m hiding the menu bar on both systems to maximize the workspace, but on the 14” I see the desktop background in the area the window will not move to. I know this is a very small amount of screen workspace, but every pixel counts. Is there a way to move the window up? I honestly don’t care that it will cover the application name. I know what I’m using..

Thank you so much for helping! I've tried this, but basically what does this do is making the usable screen even smaller :(, kind of making it back to the 13 inch model's screen, still not able to use the spaces left & right handsides of the notch.

I can only assume the comments by Shruti Haldea, ( Apple product line manager for Mac)—

“…on the 16-inch notebook, you still have a 16.0 active area on the diagonal in that 16:10-inch window, and we just grew the display up from there and put the menu bar up there.”

would apply to the new 14" model as well— the menu bar/notch area is added real estate not less.

When developers update their app for compatibility with the new Mac, the "Scale to fit below built-in camera" setting no longer appears.
