Can’t change Apple ID Password

I got a data breach notice and went to try and change my Apple ID password. I clicked change password it asked me to enter my Lock Screen passcode, which I did, but didn’t go to the screen that lets you change your Apple ID password. It just stayed on the pass code screen. No matter how many times I entered the pass code it won’t go past that. I’m using the right passcode but I changed it just to see if that would work, and it didn’t.
