Problems with importing fcpxml files

Hi everyone,

Couple of days ago tried to import fcpxml files, that perfectly were imported in 10.5.4 version, to 10.6 and couldn't do that because of DTD validation error. How can I import those files now?

That is a known bug with 10.6.

The new XML framework fails with handling numbers on non UK/US systems.

There are several XML bugs but the „big“ one can be handled by switching language/region to English/AUS, UK, US.

If you’re using XTI there’s a temporary version with a workaround for the “main bug”.

Anyway - if you rely on XMLs keep a 10.5 version to import those.

Where do these files originate from? There were threads very recently like this, and the files were from PluralEyes; in that case, the version of the xml was just too old.

If you need access to those, I can for now only suggest you grab a copy of 10.5.4 from your Time Machine (you do use it, don't you?).

If it is something else, can you tell us what version is the xml? Open the file in a text editor, the version should be right near the top of the file.

I was able to get the link before it was removed.

The file imported without any errors.

Of course, I don't have the media, but I can open the long compound clip and see the many titles inside.

Try deleting preferences (always a good idea when something is not working well in the application).

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.

The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

Another thing: does FCP have Full Disk Access in System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy? It should.
