I had an XR that I had a sensitive note in the Notes app locked and I would unlock it with face i.d. I have upgraded to a 13ProMax and can't open the sensitive note with face id and have lost the password. What is a solution?

there is no solution that will give you access to that locked Note without the password that was used to lock it..
Face ID is just an extra convenience, it does not replace the password.
If you try a few times, I think it'll show you a password hint (if you set one up)
You can reset the password for Notes that you lock in the future
