Macbook air 2010 recovery help

Hi could anyone suggest what I can do with a MacBook air 2010 late version. It had been working fine until a few days ago. We have had it for 10 years now and (surprisingly its lasted this long) but for some reason it overheated while charging and it went white screen. Its been on its last few legs the last 2 years. Have been meaning to move all the files out onto a portable hard drive to avoid this but life happens... Ive googled and tried all the possibilities of getting it to restart with the logo in safe mode but to no avail it has not moved past the white screen. Im residing that there is prob no further action I can take to reuse it as there is probably a malfunction in the hardware somewhere unless Ive missed something. I also know that we can't update as Apple is no longer supporting MacBook air models before 2012. Im hoping to still recover some files that are still on there such as family photos and files and things as such saved over the 10 years we've had it. Any help would be much appreciated.

There are several articles, some from third-party help sites;

& among those from Apple Support. I've bookmarked few..

• My Mac Won't Start or Boot: How To Fix White Screen | AppleToolBox

https://appletoolbox.com/mac-fix-white-screen/

• If your Mac starts up to a blank screen - Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210905

"A blank screen (black, gray, or blue) should appear once or more during startup.

If your Mac appears to be stuck on a blank screen, follow these steps."

~ see associated links within:

[1.Try to Start up from macOS Recovery]

[2.Use Disk Utility to Repair your startup disk]

If Disk Utility found no errors, reinstall macOS.

If Disk Utility found errors and repaired them, restart your Mac.

If the issue returns after restarting, reinstall macOS.
