Why aren't there favicons in the Safari favorites bar?

Every other modern browser allows me to see the favicon of a favorite/saved site in the favorites bar. This makes it easy to access my favorites. But Safari only lets me list text! I want to make the switch from Chrome to Safari to take advantage of the speed with apple silicon, but it's a blocker! Feels like a big oversight.

Show Flavicons in bookmark bar IpadOS Hello! Does anyone know how to show website flavicons in the bookmarks bar on Safari for ipad? The flavicons show up in the tab previews, but not when bookmarked. I used to have my bookmarks saved as just icons on google chrome (see picture), but on iPad’s safari, I can’t seem to get the same thing. If this is not possible with iPadOS, does anyone know of an ipad safari extension that enables this? Thanks a ton for any help!

Opening favourites in a separate tab with just one click and not losing the current page In my favorites bar (below the URL in safari) I would like it so that when I click one of them, it opens in a new tab default (rather then the current page). How do I accomplish this, is there a workaround? I dont want to have to press cmd every time.
