Syncing new iPad to iPhone. Both are logged into my Apple ID but I can’t send or receive text messages on iPad

What am I missing? iPhone is set to MMS, don’t see that option on the iPad but I still can’t send or receive messages on iPad

On your phone, Go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding and ensure that your iPad is toggled on in the setting
