Copying and Pasting in iMovie

I have been putting a lot of clips into one file on iMovie, with the plan to copy and paste them into new, separate files once I collected all the ones I needed. I can select specific files and use Command + C on them, but every time I go to a new file and click Command + V, nothing pastes.

I have already checked for other ways to relocate the files without deleting them or leaving them stuck in a certain order. How do I copy and paste these clips without needing to restart my work of making them all?

Select the clip in the timeline by clicking on it. Do Edit/Copy and then create a new project and do Edit/Paste into the timeline. Before pasting, you need to put your cursor in the timeline and click. You can select several adjacent clips at once and do the same procedure.

I doesn't make any difference whether the clip was in the upper timeline or lower timeline.
