Orange phone call is being recorded light on iPhone 13

Hi, I’m a new iPhone user (13 pro with latest software update) and I see that every call I make or receive has the orange light on. The orange light is on the top left of screen. I was told it means the call is being recorded.

I went into settings to check what app is spying, but no app appears to be doing anything. I shut down everything that is possible to shut down to stop apps from turning on mic or camera etc.

Have I missed something or is there no way to stop this.

No that just leans the microphone is active which, just like you will see a green light when camera is active. To manage what app has access to microphone you go to ‘settings > privacy > microphone’

You’ve got it right.

The indicator only tells you that an app is using the microphone.

“Phone” is an app.

“Voice Memos” is another.

The idea is that the orange (or green) dot shouldn’t ever come “on” unless it’s for an app that you intentionally initiated.

You were misinformed.

The light is telling you the microphone is in use.

Nothing is being recorded.

Just to make sure I’m understanding this correctly, every time I make or receive a call and the orange light is on, it is on because I am using the mic for the call. It is not on because some app or worse turned it on when I made or received a call.
