Compatibility of applications

I am using macOS big sur. I want to upgrade to macOS monterey. Does the applications on my mac need to be compatible or so for macOS monterey? I have some applications like adobe photoshop, illustrator etc. and also UTM(virtual machine) running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS in it.

I am worried if they work or not. As those applications are important for my academics.
