Messages & Monterey

When I installed Monterey earlier tonight, all the conversations in Messages disappeared. I still have them on my iPhone. I can't import them because all of those commands are greyed out. Does anyone have an answer for the mysterious Monterey Message muncher?

P. Phillips, thanks for your helpful question. Even though I didn't have an answer, it was helpful.

I observed that new messages were being received by Messages and not disappearing. I quit Messages and did other things all day. Tonight, I opened Messages expecting to see a small number of new texts that came in.

I was surprised to find that all of my messages had been restored.

I have no idea what caused the problem. I solved it through benign neglect.

Monterey is working great.
