Battery drain on iPad 7

After updating to iPadOS 15.1 the battery drains rapidly. I am getting about 4 hours on a full charge just searching the net and playing solitaire. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Having performed the update to iPadOS15, a forced restart is recommended. Doing so will likely clear any “stuck” or background processes that are causing excessive battery utilisation:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Be aware that, post update, your battery utilisation will be higher than normal for a few days - whilst system housekeeping tasks, such as re-indexing, are running. Normal battery behaviour should return within a day or two.
