I have a 1st generation Magic Trackpad and it doesn’t seem to work on a Mac M1 with macOS Monterey. System settings doesn’t recognize the device (it says no trackpad is connected) and none of the gestures work. I can move the pointer around and click, but that’s about it. Does anyone encountered the same problem and found a solution?

[UPDATE] I couldn’t find a solution, support for this Apple device doesn’t seem to be build in the OS. The Magic Trackpad acts as a regular mouse, though the pointer doesn’t move smoothly and there isn’t any support for gestures (including scrolling). To be honest it’s frustrating to work with so I downgraded to Big Sur (which wasn’t easy but things again work like they should).
Good to know you got your trackpad working again :) but it’s a Magic Trackpad 2. I couldn’t find a fix for the first edition, model nr. A1339.
After upgrading to Monterey, my multitouch gestures also stopped working for my Magic Trackpad (A1535). I have restarted the system. I do see the Trackpad in System Preferences, and when I switch it off, I get a notice saying the trackpad has been disconnected.
UPDATE
After deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleMultitouchTrackpad.plist and restarting, the gestures are working again as intended.
