Why won’t my new mini Mac pair with my Magic Mouse 1

At the beginning of the set up process for my new Mac Mini I can’t get past the first two screens because it won’t recognize my Magic Mouse 1 or my trackpad. Can’t get to preferences drop down menu because screen stays stuck on the Country selection page. Any ideas as to how to resolve this issue?

If the mouse and trackpad were used with another Mac,

you need to unpair them from that in order to use them

with the new Mac.

Otherwise you need to get a cheap wired USB mouse (which is usually

a good thing to have around anyway) in order to move on.

Also, if you are using an Apple Bluetooth keyboard, you need to do the same as well.
