Revert to previous iOS version?

I recently updated both my iPhone 8 and iPad mini 5 to the lastest version; 15.1. Somehow the update to my iPad mini was corrupted in that I could no longer select a photo from my photos and send it directly by tapping on the Mail app. I got a spinning wheel and message “loading…” that never went away. It works fine using iMessage and no problem on my iPhone. I spent over an hour with Apple tech person who was unable to eliminate the problem. Restoring from a previous backup would not help because it doesn’t allow you to revert to a previous version from what he could see. I did not have a problem with the previous version. Is there anyway to roll back to say iOS 14.8 for example?

iPad mini 5, iPadOS 15

Actually, restoring from a previous backup may help if you do it through a computer. Doing so will install a fresh version of iOS. Very often, that will resolve this type of problem.

Apple does not support downgrading your iOS version.

Yes, I know I could go through all that but I think there should be a simpler way to roll back to a previous version within the “manage backups” options using my MacBook. I submitted a request for this feature at Apple’s website. I’m hoping the next update will install smoothly and correct this issue. It isn’t that big of an inconvenience and I haven’t found any other problems yet. Thanks for your response.
