Mac OS Monterey prevent mouse waking Mac

I can't find how to stop bluetooth devices waking my Mac (M1) Mini. All advice Ive googled is to select Advanced settings in the bottom right of the bluetooth window, which I do not have. I need to be able to move the mouse while the Mac sleeps to charge it.

Thanks

type in terminal:

defaults -currentHost write com.apple.Bluetooth RemoteWakeEnabled 0

check with:

defaults -currentHost read com.apple.Bluetooth

fixed waking up mine, but wake up with click still works.

FWIW, I have searched high and low and nowhere is there any way to prevent Bluetooth devices from waking a Mac in macOS Monterey or perhaps this only eliminated on M1 Macs.

I know that on MacBook Airs there is a built in feature "Instant On" which basically means opening the lid or pressing any key will automatically boot or wake a MacBook Air and cannot be defeated, which includes external keyboards and mice in the case of sleep or lock screen. Perhaps this feature is fundamentally carried over on all M1 Macs, hence the lack of preventing Bluetooth devices from doing such.

So, the only way of preventing "wake on Bluetooth" activity would be to turn the Bluetooth devices off when not in use.

I would suggest to all those that do not like this feature to submit their desires to:

I realize this is a slightly old question, but I was having a similar issue. The Logitech MX mouse would constantly wake my Mac M1 Mini. I "solved" it by unpairing it from bluetooth, using the dongle instead. Now I can poke or shake that mouse and it won't wake the machine.

I realize this is the stupidest resolution in the world, but at least it's an easy one.

I was also having some tracking issues with my MX, and using the dongle seems to have solved that too. SMH.

I have the same problem since updating to Monterey. Apple support says the option to disable bluetooth devices from waking mac from sleep has been removed. they say to add feedback at applw.com/feedback under mouse and keyboard and bluetooth. if enough do this they "might" bring it back.

re above terminal commands, when i try the above i get "Domain com.apple.Bluetooth does not exist" ??????

Now, that’s a mystery. Sometimes I think the Climate movement can be too enthusiastic 😁

Jokes apart, I have no clue why you don’t have it; Monterey hasn’t done away with it. I don’t know what else to tell you other than contact Apple Support https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201232. Maybe others will chip in with better ideas (have backups ready). All the best.
