Location not working on lock screen

I just switched from a Pixel phone to iPhone 13 Pro Max. One app I use is called Hubitat, a home automation platform. The app accesses phone location all the time, and determines when I'm inside or outside of a home geolocation. Years ago on my iPhone 5s this was pretty reliable, then on my Pixel 2 it worked well too. But now when my new iPhone is in my pocket that app doesn't know where I am. As soon as I open the phone and unlock it, Hubitat knows whether I'm home or not. What settings are limiting my location when the phone is asleep?

Note: Hubitat already has location access "all the time".

Hello Hatrabbit,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. From your post, it sounds like the app isn't detecting the location until the iPhone is unlocked. We'll do what we can to help.

The only settings for location are the ones you mentioned unless there are some inside the app itself. Double check the app just to be sure there are no app settings that might control this.

If there isn't any, turn off the location services for the app then back on: Turn Location Services and GPS on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Otherwise, try removing the app and installing it again so it requests the location access again from scratch: Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Take care for now.
