My girlfriend’s name is Jaci, (pronounced Jackie) I have updated the pronunciation in the contact field , yet Siri fails to use it. There is no apparent way to fix this???
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your reply. I understand the options available in iOS 15 for contacts. However, it is my understanding that Apple has decided to remove the outstanding functionality they had in prior versions of iOS (prior to iOS 15) which enabled Siri to "learn" how to say a name or phrase by telling her how to say it, and then having the user select which enunciation option to use going forward. The phonetic spelling option in Contacts now is slow and very difficult to use, in many cases. I would like to know why this key Siri functionality was removed (I used it ALL the time) and whether or not there are plans to restore this functionality. Very disappointed in this decision by Apple! A key benefit to using Siri was the ability to learn to pronounce names, etc. correctly.
I’m in the same boat with you. I’m not an english major either are most users, but I would like Siri to pronounce names correctly. I’m unable to phonetically spell out certain names in a manner she understands.
The removal seems like a step backwards for Siri and IOS 15.
Is this the result of Siri being run by the user’s phone and not a server as of iOS15? I can’t see a strategic reason for removing one of the best Siri skills and replacing it with something that is as big of a step backwards as it is frustrating/impossible to use. Hard stop.
For real this is a step backwards in time and effort and accuracy
