Two Factor Authentication

How do I turn off two factor authentication? I only have one apple product and if I loss my phone I have no access to my account... This is not smart at all apple....

Two-factor authentication is enabled by default on new Apple IDs and cannot be turned off.


If you have an old account (several years old) and recently activated Two Factor Authentication note this section of an Apple support article:

"Two-factor authentication for Apple ID" - https://support.apple.com/HT204915

"Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

... If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll within two weeks of enrollment. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings ..."


Add multiple trusted devices, or even a Recovery Contact. Using your iPhone as a trusted device when it is your only device is like keeping your only spare car key locked inside your car.

- Use a Trusted Device: Mac, iPhone, iPad, Watch. Code is either generated automatically or manually using Settings on the Trusted Device.

- Text or phone call to a trusted telephone number (also landlines).

- Instructions at the end about what to do if you cannot get a code and need to use account recovery.
