word document in outlook only opens as read only

Dear Apple Community,

recently when trying to directly opening a word document on my outlook email, the word documents only open as read only.

In order to work on the document I have to go to preview and then open as word document.

But this is not OK it used be possible to just to open the documents directly.

Has anyone any suggestions on what to do?

It only happens with word documents.
