I know what AppleCare+ is, and I understand that if the Pencil is defective, then you can get a replacement. However, the Pencil is not defective, the tip is damaged which is not covered. However, if you have spoken to Apple and they will replace the Pencil, then go right ahead. But, as LotusPilot has said, the tips are consumables, and will wear, or as you found, can get damaged. At some point, you will not be able to get the Pencil replaced, and would need tips. My son damaged his, so I bought a box of 4, gave him 2 and I kept 2. I've not had to use one yet, but I have them.
