My system data is taking up 125gb on my hard drive

I have a 13 inch m1 macbook pro with the base 256 gb hard drive. I mainly use for work email, light video and photo editing, and some light web based gaming.

My system data is taking up a whopping 125gb of storage on my hard drive. That is separate from the 15.7gb that mac os takes up and the 50gb of apps and documents I have saved. Does anyone have experience with this or know what this system data could be? Its taking up half of my hard disk space.

Edit:

I recently upgraded to Monterey, I'm not sure if that caused this issue, I don't recall seeing this much system data before.
