Lock and unlock option
My iPad Air 4 doesn’t show lock and unlock option in display mode. How to check whether it supports sleep mode with cover?

All models of iPad can be automatically locked when using a compatible cover. Compatible covers are model specific - as the cover incorporates a tiny magnet to operate the corresponding iPad sensor. The sensor location differs between iPad models.
