I just bought Apple TV 3 A1469 and after updating and factory reset I can’t connect my iPhone with the device because is not appearing in airplay, can I get help ?
I can confirm this worked! After a week of restores restarts and an hour long conversation with Apple Support, this worked, I copied it from another forum.
Finished.
Plugged back into TV and the casting/screen mirror works!

Thanks for the link - didn't work though. It takes you to the windows apps store and then looks for the configurator app and can't find one. :(

I have 2 of these Gen 3s with this exact problem but when I plug them in via usb the apple tv isn't recognized so I can't do this solution. Any suggestions?
After my 4th usb cable it worked for me.

Hello. Thanks for this. I’ve tried it but it won’t work because my ATV3 is running TVOS 7.8 and the configurator needs it to be running TVOS 10.2.
Any idea how I can force an update to 10.2?
