"hold near reader" has disappeared from apple pay

Try going into your assistive touch settings on your watch app on your phone and turn off confirm with assistive touch. Restart both phone and watch and then double check that confirm with assistive touch is still off. Worked for me.

Have you tried checking in the Wallet app on the Watch? By just double-clicking the side button from the home screen I also didn’t see the ‘Hold near reader’ prompt, however in the Wallet app it worked, and after exiting the app it showed up after double-clicking as well.

Thank you so much. This has been driving me nuts for months. Asked a buddy to show me his watch after double taping and realised the "hold near reader" was missing. I also had tried out assistive touch but might wait for a few versions before trying again. This easy solution fixed it.

i am also having this problem after turning on my assistive touch on and off!!

i cannot use my card now!

I have the same issue regardless if I’m manually opening the wallet or double clicking. I don’t get the prompt to ‘hold near reader’.

At least you got there in the end. I never realised how much I liked buying stuff with my watch until it was taken away from me. What a stupid bug!!
