Safari Energy Usage

Safari has never required using this much energy or CPU before:


I only have 4 tabs open, and none of them are games. Why is Safari taking up this much of my computing power and battery? Are there any tips for optimizing my power usage?

Hardware: MacBook Air (13-inch-2017)

Processor: 1.8 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

Software (Safari): Version 15.0
