So this occurs only when I edit in the default editor. Google photos editor or any other fixes the problem. When I contacted apple support they said they needed my phone for observation and it might take a week or so. Even the apple service centre guys had no idea. SO MUCH FOR THE APPLE EXPERIENCE!
The gray lines are looking like jpeg artifacts. This can happen, if some bits are switched in the image files by transmission errors or a problem with the memory or storage. I would download the original image files to a computer and check, if they are still all right, without grey bars. This will tell you, if the data are corrupted or you are having a problem with your device or the software on your device.
The grey or coloured lines are only in the small thumbnail preview when I actually view the photo it seems to be fine. I did what you asked and downloaded the file to my PC it works fine as well. Although the lines are showing up in my cloud preview as well. Most of the lines are in images which I edited with the default photo editor if that helps in finding a solution.
Do the gray lines vanish, if you add further adjustments to the photos in question? Rotate the photo by 90°, then back? Usually this will recreate the thumbnail, if the original image file is not corrupted.
Adding or reverting the adjustments doesn't solve the problem. Rotating or zooming in fixes it for just a while and goes back to being corrupt as soon I reopen the app or I scroll to another pic. It seems the default editor is causing the problem. I edited a few pictures with lines in Snapseed and saved and the lines disappeared.
