iPad Pro 11 battery draining when apple pencil 2 is connected.

Hi,

Recently I bought an iPad Pro 11 along with apple pencil 2. I've noticed that when my apple pencil is connected with the iPad, the pencil is constantly charging no matter it is charged to 100% or not. This resulted in rapid discharge of the iPad's battery. So I tried attaching the pencil in different orientations and found that the apple pencil will stick even on the bottom and on the edge of the iPad's screen. I'm concerned about whether attaching my apple pencil that way would damage my iPad. Is it ok to attach it that way or will it damage my iPad?

When docked in the correct location, your iPad will optimally charge and maintain your Pencil battery. When fully charged, whilst the corresponding icon will show the green charging indication, Pencil battery charging will only be the barest minimum to maintain a full charge. Removing the Pencil from this charging dock will terminate charging.

As illustrated by your attached photo, a second generation Pencil can be magnetically “parked” on one edge of your iPad screen. In this location, no charging will occur. If the Pencil does not impede your use of the iPad screen, leaving the Pencil in this position is entirely benign. No harm will occur to either the Pencil or iPad.
