My iPhone XR suddenly does not recognize my 2nd Generation AirPods

All of a sudden, my 2nd Generation AirPods is not recognized by my iPhone XR or MacBook Pro 15" 2018.

AirPods won’t connect My AirPods just won’t connect. I have tried all of the recommendations and still nothing. They worked at one point but stopped so I had to forget the device and start over. Now my up to date IPhone won’t recognize them.
