Rather than going through the Apple Wallet to add the card, you must go into the AfterPay app on your phone and add it that way.

if you have an AppleWatch, I recommend adding it to your watch first then when you have completed setting it up there, it will give you the option to ‘Add to wallet’ again and you’ll do the same thing with your phone
