macbook update not showing

i can't see any updates for my mac book in the app store? i want to download 10.11 but only have the 10.10.5? help please

If your mac doesn’t support the most recent version, you have to download the update from somewhere else. This is a link on how to get old versions of macOS.

10.11 would not be a an update to 10.10.5, it would be an upgrade. Upgrades would be available from the App Store app, not the Software Update system preference.
