ipad calendar slow to respond after ios 15.1 upgrade

after the upgrade to ios 15.1 my calendar on the ipad is extremely slow. My appointments are messed up and suddenly move around. After waiting for a minute or so the correct appointments slowly appear but the calendar app becomes almost unusable. Anybody have similar issues or know how to fix? Restarting the ipad did not work.
