Photos app mystery

I take a photo on my iPhone ... and it gets transferred okay to the Photos app on my M1 iMac.

But, then when I delete it on my iPhone, it still stays on my IMac. Isn't it also supposed to be deleted there also? Aren't the iPhone and the iMac supposed to be in sync?

Also ... should the iPhone be set to Wifi ... (my household account) ... or to my separate iPhone account?

Thx for reading. I find the way Apple handles photos to be not intuitive to put it mildly.

Depends on if you are using photosream, or iCloud photos. Only iCloud photos performs the sync function.

Do you have an iCloud plan big enough for your whole library, if so turn on iCloud in photos preferences as shown...

Wifi is better.
