Is it possible to use a monitor screen and mouse with MacBooks?

Can it be a monitor that is not an Apple product? Thank you in advance.

Hi Christine,

Any mouse will work with your Mac, regardless if it supports Bluetooth or not (it's just more convenient). Your Mac includes a Bluetooth module inside, and Bluetooth is enabled by default. (You can toggle it manually when desired.)

For my personal setup, I frequently use my MacBook Pro in closed-display mode. I have no issues using my external monitor, mouse and keyboard- none of which are manufactured or provided by Apple - with my Mac.

Short answer: yes, you can use any compatible (non-Apple) monitor and peripherals with your Mac.

thanks. I need it so I can enlarge what's on my screen for working at home. My employer won't give me a laptop to use. I have to use my own. About Bluetooth, does my MacBook already have it installed, and I just have to switch it on? Does it slow down the internet connection when Bluetooth is on? Can I please clarify that I can buy a monitor from a different store that is NOT Apple /monitors made for being used on Window PC's - are they compatible with MacBooks? Thanks.
