Stop Apple Notes from converting text numbers into a table

When I type my blood pressure numbers in a note (2 numbers separated by a couple of spaces) a period appears after the first number and when I hit return after the second number I'm in a table, with the first number on line 2 one number above the number in line 1, i.e line one is 11, line two is 12, instead of letting me enter a text number, for example 25. A period always appears after the numbers in the first column. How do I stop Notes from creating a table out of my numbers?
