Hi, I'm attempting to export a Premiere Pro Project to FCP .xml, which I have done. However it won't open in FCP 10.5.4 as it's greyed-out so apparently FCP doesn't recognise it. Any ideas on how I can resolve this issue please?

AFAIK, the format of XML that Premiere uses is different from that of FCP, and needs to be converted before it can be imported.
The third party application SendToX can do that.
PPro’s Final Cut XMLs are often used to transfer to Da Vinci Resolve.
DVR also can handle current versions (1.9) of the actual FCPXML.
So depending on the complexity of the project you might try the free version of DVR to convert “old” to “new” XMLs.
Otherwise Send ToX does a good job.
Well, the thing is: it creates legacy Final Cut Pro (i.e. version 7 or earlier) XML.
And of course this has been eol’ed more than ten years ago, but I can understand how someone seeing “Final Cut Pro XML” can be misled.
Ah I found in Premiere it's possible to 'Restore Unrendered' media files to the project so I'm trying again now. Hope it works this time. @Spherico you inspired me to try again. I love a bit of problem-solving on a Saturday afternoon ;)
Hi Luis, thanks for your quick and helpful response to my question. I was hoping there might be a free solution to this issue but I guess $19.99 is not too expensive if there's no other alternatives. It's a shame that Premiere Pro creates 'Final Cut Pro XML' files but that they don't actually work when importing into Final Cut Pro.
Ah I see, yes it would be nice if they (Adobe) kept up with the times in this regard. Have you had any direct experience of using this 'Send to X' program please? I'm surprised to see very few positive reviews online since 2013 or so. Looking for a little bit of extra reassurance, if anyone can provide this please. Thanks again.
I think that probably the reason is that not many people need this. The original purpose was I think to be able to transfer from legacy FCP to the new one, and of course legacy FCP, being an old 32-bit application that only worked in systems until macOS 12 Sierra, does not get that much use. It has not been updated since 2009. It just so happens that Premiere kept the ability to export the old XML, but I imagine most people either do their projects completely in one software or the other, so not many sales for Send to X.
Yes this makes sense. Still, it's nice to have the option when the time arises. A friend made the XML file for me on Send To X today but it didn't really work very well to be honest so I'm just gonna re-edit the project in FCP from scratch. Unfortunately Adobe Premiere Pro '*.MOV_rendered_001.mxf' files were created in my old Premiere Project, replacing many of the original media files so this has caused an issue when trying to relink the original media in FCP following the SendToX conversion. I manually changed a few of these by removing the audio in QuickTime Player as the .mxf files don't have audio, but then the relink failed due to different frame rates which was frustrating. Would you have an idea of how to replace these with the original media files in the Adobe Premiere Project please or some other kind of workaround perhaps?
A couple years ago we used it on a relatively simple project coming from PP and it seemed to work. Since then that producer has stepped into the light and started using FCP. ;)
