+1 No you cannot, please refer to Target Display Mode. As a general rule of thumb, please remember all Macs are computers, they are external displays for other devices. If your MBP needs an external display, please buy one. You will find they are simple to setup, not expensive, extremely reliable. In short there is no reason to not use this method.
