File Extensions messing up the rename while saving

I have just updated to Monterey, and now when I save a new {anything}, the extension doubles up or reappears or in general messes up the naming. Below is an example using Pages, but this is happening with every program.

I'll highlight the default untitled name, start typing what I want it to be called, in this case 'why', and as you can see, it accepted the w, but inserted '.pages' before the hy.

Is this happening to anyone else? Any Ideas?

I've got a MacBook Pro 2019

Your profile is showing macOS 10.13, and you are posting in the Monterey (12.0) community. Pages v11.2 on macOS 12.0.1 only selects the basename of the Untitled.pages name and not the entire filename. Thus, one can just type "why" and only the Untitled is replaced, allowing one to save normally. Pages v7.3 and v8.1 on High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14042) behave exactly the same way for me.

One would have to triple-click in this Pages save panel input field to select the entire filename.

Is this isolate to the Pages .app....?

Pages needs the file extension .pages yes this is not an issue

You can export the file as some other format if you want to get past default extension .

So everyone is clear below are the specs of the computer I am talking about. A MacBook Pro 2019 just updated to Monterey.

Also here are two videos that better show the issue.

In this video, https://youtu.be/SAZHb1gwkpA, I just hit backspace to erase the default 'Untitled', and the '.pages' doubles up.

In this video, https://youtu.be/QolZirLCgDY, I have no idea what happens but the '.pages' freaks out and shows up many times.

Again, I'm just using Pages as an example program. This happens in ANY program where I'm saving something new.
