my tv light blinks when i use the remote, but doesnt respond or restart

After unplugging and reconnecting the device to power, we got a slowly blinking light, then almost immediately, it started blinking rapidly and the device appears to be powered off. What can I try? Our television says there's no signal, just as it does if the device is turned off. The remote does absolutely nothing. I have now connected it directly to my network via CAT6 cable, in case the firmware somehow became corrupted. I am open to any suggestions, and thanks in advance.
