I need a longer cable for my new Macbook Air. The one it comes with is way too short.

I really would like a longer charging cable for my new Mac Book Air. The one that comes with it is much too short, and for travel, would be definitely too short. I don't trust power cables that are not Apple products as there has been so much bad press about overheating and fires with power cables/extension cords purchased online that are not safe. If anyone has advice, I'd appreciate it. Does Apple even make this new type charging cord in a longer length? I haven't seen one if they do!
